Talk announcement – “Pushing the limits of student hackathons” by Zvonimir Haramustek

We’re happy to announce that Zvonimir Haramustek will be presenting at DORS/CLUC this year. Zvonimir is currently a graduate student at FER with broad interests in programming, particularly in low-level development and electronics. In his free time, he’s an avid maker and hacker, always experimenting and building. Over the past few years, he has been actively involved as a volunteer in student-led tech projects through the X.FER student association.
One of the standout initiatives he’s been a part of is Algotrade, a hackathon focused on technology and optimization in a simulated trading environment, which he co-founded with a friend three years ago.
In his talk, Pushing the limits of student hackathons, Zvonimir will share what it takes to design and run a 24-hour hackathon experience that is fun, accessible to participants of all experience levels, and—most importantly—technically smooth. From infrastructure to mentorship, from challenge design to creating a welcoming atmosphere, the session offers a look behind the scenes of Algotrade and the lessons learned from iterating on the event year after year. If you’re curious how to bring together community, challenge, and clean execution in a student tech event, don’t miss this talk.
