About event
For the second time we organize State of the Map in Croatia. This year as completely separate track at our conference, day before the main conference.
We focus on OpenStreetMap data, it’s usage and services, as well as on open data and geospatial data which can be used in combination with it. The aim of this event is to exchange experience, improve existing mapping practices and popularize free cartography.
The participants of State of the Map Croatia are not only cartography enthusiasts, but also developers, scientists, designers, social activists and other people, enterprises and institutions who are familiar with the topic of cartography.

You can apply at https://www.dorscluc.org/call-for-speakers/

Presentations can be about: OpenStreetMap, mapping, cartography, development, data analysis, use of OSM data, OSM user experiences, anything else OSM related, open data usage and liberating spatial data.
Open Data
OpenStreetMap and Open Data are closely connected, and we strive to bring these topics together. Our interest is also in spatial Open Data and spatial data providers in Croatia. If you publish spatial Open Data you are important to us as a possible source for a better map.

Talks
OpenStreetMap data sources – Hrvoje Bogner

A long time ago one guy decided to make his own map because all others were not free. It started with hand held GPS unit and a bike, and has evolved a lot since then. This talk is a quick overview how Openstreetmap input data sources evolved thru history and a quick preview what is coming.
Fractal world – Hrvoje Nuić

Everyone loves fractals. Fractals are never-ending patterns that repeat themselves at every level of observation. They are, on one hand, complex, and on the other, very simple. Explore where they appear around us and find out how you can use OpenStreetMap data to analyse fractal patterns found in nature.
Creating maps with uMap and Overpass – Janko Mihelić

uMap is a great tool for visualizing geographic data on a map background, but when combined with Overpass, it becomes a powerful way to explore and display OpenStreetMap data.
Improve your osm.org experience with better-osm-org – Matija Nalis

better-osm-org is user-script for Violentmonkey web browser extension (available for Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox for Android) which improves and extends www.openstreetmap.org experience, by adding many features useful for both beginners causally browsing the map as well as advanced OpenStreetMap editors. This talk will show its features and demonstrate few more advanced examples of its usage.
OSM mapathon – Hrvoje Nuić
The Mapathon will consist of two parts:
Theoretical part – introductory presentations on OSM, its structure and application possibilities.
Practical part – participants will actively contribute to the OSM database under the mentorship of expert volunteers. Bring your laptop to join the practical part of the workshop.
